Our membership agreement

At Zero Gravity, we’re on a mission to unlock the potential of our members. We want to support you in defying the odds, as you break into your dream university and career. As part of our goal, Zero Gravity is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all of our members.

An core part of our mission lies in this Membership Agreement, which we expect everyone who uses our platform to adhere to. This Code details the behaviours and actions that are expected of our incredible members. It’s important that you know there are consequences for those who violate the code.

Respectful and Inclusive Communication

  • First off and definitely most important - members are expected to communicate with others in a respectful and inclusive manner - just like you would with your peers at school or university. Harassment, bullying, discrimination, or any other form of offensive or harmful language or behaviour will not be tolerated. This includes inappropriate language, offensive content, or interactions with other members or the platform more generally.

Professionalism

  • Members must conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner at all times. Professionalism includes respecting the privacy and confidentiality of others, refraining from sharing any confidential information about other members, and maintaining the integrity of the Zero Gravity platform. Essentially, we want our members to behave on the platform as you do in real life: upholding values of honesty, integrity, and respect.

Compliance with Laws and Regulations

  • Members are expected to comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using Zero Gravity. Any illegal activities or behaviours will not be tolerated and may result in the termination of membership and/or reporting to the appropriate authorities. This might be a bit of an obvious one, but for legal reasons, it’s crucial that we mention it all the same.

Honesty and Accuracy

  • Members must be honest and accurate in all communications and interactions with other members and the Zero Gravity team. AKA no misrepresentations, falsehoods, or deliberate deception.

Responsiveness and Timeliness

  • Members must respond in a timely manner to messages and requests from other members and the Zero Gravity team. Failure to do so may result in the suspension or termination of membership. This might sound a little harsh, but we’re big into a culture of respect and we’re sure that you wouldn’t want someone repeatedly airing your messages.

Community Rules & Guidelines

  • Members are expected to contribute positively to the Zero Gravity Community - so sharing your knowledge, insights, and experiences, all in a collaborative and respectful manner. We encourage members to support and uplift each other, for example sharing your mega revision tips on a post where someone is struggling with a specific subject.

  • To ensure that the safety and privacy of all members is watertight, we ask that you do not share any personally identifiable information, such as your full name, address, school details (for mentees), or date of birth. Any posts or account bios that include this information will be edited or removed to keep students safe. This includes stuff like swapping Instas, LinkedIn handles, or phone numbers.

  • No promotional posts allowed, to ensure advice is unbiased and honest. This includes any post that is created to generate interest, sign-ups or recruitment to opportunities. We want to create a community that helps students in every way, and honest, open advice from other members is the best way to achieve that, rather than posts with the sole intention of promoting external opportunities.

  • Be kind, supportive, and respectful to fellow members and the Zero Gravity Team. Offensive language, harassment, or rudeness will not be tolerated. We won't tolerate any behaviour that doesn't follow these guidelines. If you spot any behaviour that violates this Membership Agreement, please flag it to us via the chat icon on your Dashboard, or reach out to tom.cockbain@zerogravity.co.uk and we will do our best to see to the issue immediately. This will keep the space a lovely place for all of us.

Masterclasses

  • As with all communication on platform, Members are expected to communicate with others in a respectful and inclusive manner. This includes the Guest Speaker(s) and other members of the audience. Disruptive behaviour during masterclasses or messages in the chat which might make others feel uncomfortable is prohibited and may result in removal from the session. Removal from a session is at the discretion of any Zero Gravity member of staff or Course Lead.

AI Coach

  • Members may choose to use our AI Coach feature, which provides personalised support and guidance for university and career applications. As with all interactions on our platform, use should be appropriate and be restricted to the following areas: maximising academic attainment, applying to university, university life, applying for internships/graduate jobs, commercial awareness, career sector insights, and working life. It is worth emphasising that AI Coach is limited in its accuracy of information and we would encourage all members to seek additional support if you are unsure about an interaction you’ve had.

  • We closely monitor all interactions with AI Coach (as in - we can see what you search…) and we have to tell you that any Members who misuse this feature could see an investigation launched with potential for an escalation to a School, University or Employer Partner. Misuse includes, but is not limited to, inappropriate language, attempts to "game" the AI system, or using the feature for non-academic or non-professional purposes. Engagement with AI Coach should be treated in the same way as speaking to another person (such as a teacher or careers advisor). So no dodgy questions that you wouldn’t be comfortable asking someone you know!

Reporting violations

Members are encouraged to report any violations of this Membership Agreement or any other inappropriate behaviour to the Zero Gravity team who will respond as soon as possible. You can contact us via the chat icon on your dashboard or by emailing the team at hello@zerogravity.co.uk.

Consequences
for violations

Violations of this Membership Agreement may result in the suspension or termination of Zero Gravity membership, depending on the severity of the violation.

For the avoidance of doubt, Zero Gravity operates a two strikes policy:

  • First warning

Any violation of this Membership Agreement will, depending on the severity, result in a formal warning. The Zero Gravity team reserves the right to bypass this first warning if it is deemed that the violation is severe enough for an immediate termination of Zero Gravity membership.

  • Termination of membership

For any repeated violation of this Membership Agreement, the Zero Gravity team reserves the right to take appropriate action, including but not limited to warning, suspension, or termination of membership. In some cases, violations may also be reported to relevant external organisations, such as educational institutions or employers, at the discretion of the Zero Gravity team.

Zero Gravity is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all of our members. Thanks for reading through this Membership Agreement and for choosing to uphold it. Now that all the stiff legal stuff is out the way - go off and enjoy the platform!

Important note: This Membership Agreement is a dynamic document and may be updated periodically to reflect the evolving needs and expectations of the Zero Gravity community.
